Join us for a full day course to develop and strengthen your communication skills, improve your ability to connect, develop rapport and build trust with your clients. Learn to manage your time effectively in consultations through using a consultation framework, as well as some top tips for managing adverse events, poor outcomes and discussing money.

Learning objectives:
Understand basic human behaviour. Learn to recognise and understand the stress responses exhibited by clients and recognise these responses in yourself.
Understand and use core communication skills such as reflective listening, empathy, validation and open-ended questions to elicit a history from the client in a way that builds trust and respect.
Explore the use of relationship centred care and how this contributes to trust and respect in a client veterinarian relationship. Explore how this can be used in the process of informed consent.
Understand the importance of communication in managing adverse outcomes and learn a framework to guide you through these conversations.
Become familiar with a consultation model as a framework for delivering effective consultations.
Learn techniques for eliciting and agreeing on a realistic agenda with clients to improve your time management.
Discuss and understand the complexities of having financial discussions with clients about treatment plans. Develop some tools and skills to manage these conversations.
